Synopsis

At the outbreak of WWI, Charlie Allnut, a rough boat captain with a tendency to drink, and Rose Sayer, a stretched and puritanical missionary, flee from the German troops in a ruinous boat, with which they must climb a dangerous river. They are, at first glance, two antagonistic beings, incompatible, but the coexistence and, above all, the hardships they will have to face together to survive will radically change their relationship
